Meet our team

Clinic Principal

Clare Metcalfe DC, MRCC.

Clare Metcalfe

Clare Metcalfe became interested in Chiropractic when her brother suffered a sports injury, and was successfully treated by Chiropractic. She studied at Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, and on graduating in 1984, worked as an associate in a practice in Sheffield before founding Beckenham & Bromley Chiropractic Clinic in 1986.

Clare continues to attend post-graduate courses  including paediatric, sports Chiropractic and care of the elderly, and she has successfully treated patients from newborn to 97 years of age. She uses a wide range of techniques including joint manipulation, soft tissue work, SOT and rehabilitative exercises. Her experience and care has brought relief to patients from all walks of life whether acute or chronic and have confirmed her belief that everyone can benefit from Chiropractic care.

Parliamentary Review

In 1994, in order to obtain Registration of Chiropractors, Clare Metcalfe invited her local MP to visit Beckenham and Bromley Chiropractic Clinic. He was so impressed with the clinic he decided to support a private members’ bill.  Clare has been ‘immortalised’ in Parliamentary history in the Hansard and we now have the General Chiropractic Council.

Clare Metcalfe has recently been invited to write an article for The Parliamentary Review based on her 35 years as a Chiropractor and her contribution to the profession. Only a select number of professionals are given this honour each year and Clare will be attending a gala evening, which will give her the opportunity meet some amazing dignitaries, paving the was for businesses of the future.

Associate Chiropractor

Laura Simmons DC, MChiro (Hons), LRCC.

Laura Simmons

Laura Simmons decided to become a chiropractor having seen the benefits of chiropractic care first hand from a young age. Laura felt that chiropractic gave her the opportunity to support patients throughout the whole recovery process, giving them the help they need to get back to their daily lives.

She graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, where she worked with Bournemouth University to treat and prevent sports injuries. This involved working with a wide range of athletes, treating injuries as well as working to enhance performance and encourage injury resistance. She is also Pitch Side First Aid and AED trained.

Laura enjoys working with a wide range of patients from paediatric patients to the elderly. Having been a part of a combined midwifery-chiropractic clinic focusing on addressing feeding difficulties, Laura is keen to support mothers throughout pregnancy and treat the paediatric patient.

With many of us spending increasing hours using technology and having sedentary jobs and lifestyles, Laura has been involved in carrying out work place ergonomic assessments to help reduce back pain, neck pain and tension headaches through better work place set ups.

Laura continues to attend post-graduate courses focusing on her interests and treats patients of all ages helping them out of pain and addressing the root cause to aid injury prevention.

All our Chiropractors are fully accredited by the General Chiropractic Council (the profession’s governing body) and are also members of the British Chiropractic Association.  They abide by their codes of practice and carry full professional insurance.

Amanda’s bespoke style of reflexology employs a gentle approach. Therefore treatments are not only effective in stimulating self healing, but also have the added benefit of offering an intensely relaxing experience. Common problems managed include:

  • Respiratory- including asthma

Amanda also specialises in facial reflexology which improves circulation, nerve conditions and muscle tone, whilst also promoting healing within the body.

Throughout a course of treatment, clients will also notice a smoother more toned complexion with a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The result is a healthy glow on the outside and wellbeing within.

Penny Bloss

Penny Bloss

Penny Bloss is an experienced counsellor having been counselling for 11
years since training at Roehampton University. Many people seek counselling
for help when thinking about what is happening currently in their lives.
They may be struggling with depression, anxiety or stress, however, they
could also be facing relationship issues, work problems, stress related
illnesses or grief. The way we react to a set of circumstances or problems
can be rooted in our past experiences. These past experiences can then
influence how we react to our present situation.

By adapting her approach to suit each individual, Penny is able to listen to
your story and work with you in a supportive way, giving you the space to
make sense of what is currently impacting you at this point in your life.
Penny works with each individual in a way that is non-judgemental, safe and
confidential. Her goal is to work with you by developing a mutual trust and
understanding, to help you to explore possible ways forward. This
therapeutic relationship is key to exploring the past and the present,
working towards helping you cope in the here and now, as well as moving into
a better future.
